Chipman, Dorothy "Lynn" - 50, of Coldbrook NS; Our loving and thoughtful wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to all, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012, at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville NS, surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer. Lynn grew up in Hants Border, Kings County, N.S. She attended Horton District High School, and graduated from the stenography program at Kingstec Campus in 1980. Lynn worked at Acadia University for 33 years and became Senior Network Analyst of The Department of Technology Services in 1997, then Supervisor of Information systems in 2008, and Manager in 2009. During her working career, Lynn studied part time and received her Certificate in Business in 1992 and Diploma in 1993. She obtained her Certificate in Computer Science in 1998, and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2007 from Acadia University. Lynn loved to travel. Her most recent trip was to Disney World Florida last spring with her daughter, granddaughter and spouse. Lynn selflessly gave to others. She volunteered with Big Brothers & Big Sisters and raised money for breast cancer, as well as ran several marathons, including Run for the Cure. Lynn was an avid squash player, and was President of The Kings County Squash Club in 2010 & 2011. She loved playing guitar, gardening, decorating, frenchy shopping, and spending time with family and friends. Lynn especially enjoyed Sunday suppers, holidays & birthdays with family at her Mother's house. Lynn will be remembered for her beautiful smile, disposition, and her kindness to others. Lynn was predeceased by her Father, Walter Chipman. She is survived by her Mother Beryl Chipman ,Hants Border; her spouse Allen Dobson, Coldbrook; her daughter Tara Connors, Hants Border; granddaughter Eden Dykens; sisters Lee Chipman, Hants Border; Janet Cook (Don), New Minas; nieces Janice Chipman (Chad Mahoney) Wolfville; Sandy Cook (Rory Cantwell & Rosalie), Montreal, Que; Heather Cook, Halifax; and nephew Stephen Cook (Katie McRorie), Calgary, Alta. There is no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held Thursday October 25, 2012 in Manning Memorial Chapel, Wolfville with Rev. Tim McFarland officiating. In lieu of flowers, condolences may be expressed by donations in support of The Palliative & Hospice Care Unit at Valley Regional Hospital.
