Sturgeon, Russell Burton - 86, of Berwick; passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2012 in the Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Blackville, New Brunswick; he was a son of the late Lester and Margaret (Brennan) Sturgeon. Russell attended the Acadia Divinity College and was a Pastor for many years in various places throughout New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. In his later years he worked security in Dartmouth. Russell had a passion for music, singing, playing the guitar; and was always humming a tune. He also loved his animals of which he had many over the years including his beautiful cats; Cheddar and Mozzarella. Russell is survived by his wife Leola Sturgeon, Grand View Manor; sons Anthony (Bonnie), Aldershot; Michael (Lucy), Hantsport; daughters Joanne Cogswell, Moncton, NB; Sandra (Rob) Snoek, Pender Island, BC; Cynthia, Salt Springs, BC; sister Ruby Mills, Fredericton, NB; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his son Tom; son-in-law Gerald; brothers Carl; James; Earl; and sister Margaret Jardine. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 31 from 2-4 p.m. in the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, Berwick from where a funeral service will take place on Thursday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Christina Bigelow officiating. A special thank you to the staff on Winslow Unit at Grand View Manor for the special care they gave Russell. Donations in his memory may be made to the Kings County SPCA or the Waterville United Baptist Church.
