Obituary of Alice Lydia Lane

LANE (King, Payzant), Alice ?ì³ Born April 18, 1910, passed away November 29, 2012, in Hants Community Hospital. Alice with her great sense of humour has experienced many changes in her lifetime. Bringing up 10 children along with all of their friends who frequently visited the farm. Enjoyed skating on the ponds and lakes also, coasting, playing ball, she was always the extra person to make up the team. Being an excellent cook, there was always an extra potato put in a pot for those friends and family who came by at mealtime. Earlier in life she experience no electricity, washing clothes on a scrub board, hanging out clothes hoping the wind would dry them. Walking was the only means of traveling while bringing up her family. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, making quilts, etc. She is survived by her children, Frances (Robert) Parks, Lunenburg; Robert Payzant, Alberta; Joan (Carl) Schofield, Windsor Forks; Eileen Boylan, Wile Settlement; Mary Leopold, Falmouth; Evelyn Patterson, Falmouth; Betty (Milton) Schofield, Alfred (Doreen) Payzant, Falmouth; Barbara (Roger) Miller, Alberta; daughter-in-law, Ethel Payzant, Falmouth; stepchildren, Mary Lane (Keith), Windsor; Joseph (Mary) Lane, Peter Lane, and Ann Thomas, all of Hantsport; several grandchildren, great and great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by first husband, Joel Payzant; second husband, Wilfred Lane and son, Joel Jr. Payzant; several grandchildren, great, and great great-grandchildren. She was last surviving member of her immediate family. Cremation has taken place by Serenity Funeral Home and Crematorium. No visitation by request. A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 8 at 2 p.m., Falmouth Centre Cemetery. Donations may be made to Falmouth Baptist Church or charity of your choice.
