Wentzell, Arleen Mildred â age 77 years of Aylesford, passed away peacefully with family by her side on April 26, 2013 at Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville. Born on April 21, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Hilda (Nelson) Wentzell. Arleen attended Bridgewater High School, Nova Scotia Teacherâs College, as well as Acadia University. Her 35 year teaching career in Digby, Shelburne, then Centre Consolidated in Lunenburg Co. and West Kings in Auburn, from where she retired in 1991. Arleen held positions on various committees such as the Nova Scotia Teacherâs Union Pension Committee and the Berwick Hospital Board until its closure. She was also Chairman of Finance for the NSTU and Chairman of the Nova Scotia Math Teachers Association. Arleen was a founding member and treasurer for Kings Chorale since its inception in 1982. She was a founding member of a bridge club which started in 1969 and remained a member until her passing. She was also a member of the Aylesford United Church Choir. As the last member of her immediate family she was predeceased by brother Vernon; sisters Helen and Doreen. Arleen leaves behind close cousins Janette (Ralph) Church, Vicki, Shelley, Trevor and their families; Many other cousins; nephew Brett; sister in law Marlene; also numerous special friends (extended family). Cremation has taken place; a funeral service will take place on Tuesday April 30, 2013 at 2pm from the Aylesford United Church with Rev. Brenda Nesbitt officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
