Keddy, Cedric Gardner - age 79 years of Aldersville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Valley Regional Hospital on June 5, 2013. Born in Aldersville on December 12, 1933; he was the son of the late Guy Ainsley and Evelyn Rebecca (Dorey) Keddy. Gardner held many different jobs during his working years, mainly farming and woods work. Seasonally he would work at the Research Station in Kentville. He was a past warden with the St. James Anglican Church in Aldersville, caretaker of the St. James Cemetery, a member of the Canadian Order of Foresters, and a member of the New Ross Golden Age Club. He was a social butterfly; loved fishing, hunting, teaming his oxen at ox pulls and enjoyed many nights at card parties and dances, but above all his biggest pride and joy was his tight knit family. Gardner absolutely adored his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and they treasured him just as much. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife of 57 years, Shirley (Hiltz); sons David (Lisa) of Blue Mountain, Derek (Valerie) of Aldersville; Steven of Aldersville, Kenneth (Jean) of Coldbrook and Neil (Anne) of Coldbrook; daughter Betty (Leon Corbett) of Aldersville; brothers Vernon (Ruby) and Gordon (June) both of North Alton; sisters Freda Russell (Ken) of Mansfield, Mass, Greta Sweet of Kentville, Carolyn Willis (Gordon) of QC, Mona Harrod (Paul) of Lower Sackville, and Eileen Colwell of Halifax; grandchildren Kimber, Bradley, Danielle, Alisha, Chelsea, Brittany, Joshua and Brandon; great grandchildren Danny, Katelyn, Sonya, Alexia, Bryson and Dana; also by many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends. Predeceased by his parents; son Danny in 1963; parents in law Norman and Bessie HIltz; sister Ada Grant; brothers in law James Grant, Vincent Sweet and Calvin Russell. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2013 from 7-9pm at the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home (4935 Hwy 12, New Ross). The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 2pm from the Christ Anglican Church, New Ross with Rev. Judi Phillips officiating. Burial to follow at the St. James Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gardner may be made to the St. James Cemetery Fund (c/o Christ Anglican Church, P.O Box 38, New Ross, B0J 2M0).
