It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Joan Pauline Burgess, on June 21st 2013. She passed at her summer home surrounded by her loving family. Joan was the daughter of the late George Graves, and Beatrice Corkum, she was pre-deceased by her husband Joseph William, formerly of Newport Station and Sydney, N.S. Joan owned and operated a very successful Seamstress Shop for many years on Charlotte St, in Sydney. She always had a friendly smile for everyone she came into contact with. She will be forever missed by her three children, Claudine Dobson of NFLD, Theada Burgess of California, and Walter Burgess of River Ryan, N.S. Joan will always remain in the hearts of her five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She is survived by her two brothers, Donald & Paul Graves, and her best friend and sister Pearl Fraser as well as many nephews, and nieces. All who knew Joan will miss her quick humour, ready smile and witty personality. There will be no public service. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.serenityfuneralhome.ca.
