Forsyth Welt, Margaret Edna (Harvie) - 87, of Greenwich, Kings County, N.S. died peacefully at home on July 3, 2013. Born in Hantsport, Hants County, N.S. May 22, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Leland and Zella Harvie. She received her early education in Hantsport and represented the town as Princess in the 1948 Apple Blossom Festival. She worked as a stenographer in Halifax until her marriage to the late Richard Forsyth. Margaret was devoted to her family and her community. She was an active member of the Greenwich United Church as a Sunday School teacher and superintendent. She was a member of the Greenwich Women's Association, active in the United Way canvassing for charities, and a Brownie Leader, known to many children in the community as Aunt Margie or Brown Owl. She was a valued asset at Blomidon Nurseries for many years and she worked happily in the orchards with her husband and later with her son in his market garden. Margaret always had a plate at the table or a bed made ready for friends and family who stopped by. Predeceased by her second husband William Welt, she is survived by her sons, Jim (Jerrilyn) Forsyth, Hay River NWT and Harold (Debbie) Forsyth, Greenwich N.S.; daughter, Beth (David) Smith, Indian River P.E.I.; brothers John Harvie, Hantsport N.S. and Richard (Auleen) Harvie, Sheffield Mills N.S.; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 8 at the Greenwich United Church with Rev. Tom Woods officiating. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Kentville. Donations in memory may be made to the VON or Fidelis House in Kentville. A special thank you to the VON for their compassion and care.
