Obituary of Margie Carline Arsenault

Today the valley is a little less gentle, a little less sweet. The family of Margie Carline Arsenault (nee Woodworth), announce with heavy hearts the passing of their cherished mother and dear grandmother at Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville, on June 21, 2013. Marge was a devoted mother to Cathy (Rick McMahon), Victoria Harbour; Brian, Avonport Beach; and Jeff (Evelyn Waters), Toronto. She was a loving wife to Joe who died in 2005. Marge was also a proud Granny of her three granddaughters, Amelia (Scott Kinsman)of Montréal, Renée (D'Arcy McDonell) of Ottawa and Jennifer (Kristan Erner) of Toronto, as well as her two great-granddaughters, Emily and Lily (Jennifer). Marge, one of 10 girls and 3 boys, was born July 7, 1927 to Avery and Mabel (Brewster) Woodworth of Baxter's Harbour. She is survived by her sisters, Ruth (Al West), New Minas, and Clara Brewster, Evergreen Home for Special Care in Kentville, and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Florence, Mildred, Violet, Norma, Evelyn, Cecelia, and Esther, and brothers Hughie, Roland and Ivan. As kind and caring a mother as we could ask for, she loved her home, loved to cook and clean and knit and crochet and quilt and laugh (which she invariably enjoyed during numerous sister gatherings). She looked forward to time with her "best friends" - her sisters who filled her heart. Nothing was better then getting silly with them, except perhaps enjoying her granddaughters. Mom was a wonderful caregiver who reveled in our successes and suffered our errors. She shone in Dad's eyes and she adored him all her life. A soldier's wife, Marge lived in many places but she was always a daughter of the Annapolis Valley. Marge was a long standing member of the Greenwich Women's Association, which provided her with many fun-filled gatherings and a warm sense of community. Though we will miss her gentle presence, her pure spirit lives on. The family would like to express thanks and respect to Marge's special care-givers Wendy Duboy, Berta Klooster and niece Pam Butler, who provided light, love and laughter and nurtured her independence when she needed it. We also extend sincere gratitude to the caring and dedicated staff of the Winslow Unit in Grand View Manor, Berwick, and to the competent and compassionate staff of Medical A at Valley Regional Hospital. Donations in memory of Marge may be made to the Winslow Unit at Grand View Manor or the Valley Hospice Foundation. Marge's life will be remembered and celebrated with family and friends at the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Homes, Wolfville Chapel on Friday, July 5, 2013 from 12:00-2:00pm. Her funeral service will immediately follow in the adjoining chapel with Pastor Sterling Gosman officiating. Interment to follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill.
