Wile, Dorothy Arlene (Barkhouse) - It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Dorothy Arlene Wile (nee: Barkhouse) age 89 of Kentville, N.S. formerly of Medford, Kings Co., N.S. She passed away June 16, 2013, at the Evergreen Special Care Home where she has resided for the past number of years. Mom was born September 15, 1923 in Medford, N.S. and at a young age, she married Gilbert Guy Wile and they lived in various places in the Valley up until the time of her passing. Mom loved to garden, sing, play her guitar, do handwork making beautiful quilts and embroidering many projects, and taking care of her home and family. Her delicious apple pies, raisin bread, soups, homemade bread and luscious molasses cookies will not soon be forgotten. Had the opportunity been there, her musical abilities would have probably earned her a recording contract in the Southern Gospel and/or country music fields. She loved these genres of music and welcomed any person to join her when playing her guitar and singing. Her Christian faith was a sustaining force during her lifetime. She leaves to mourn their loss 3 daughters: Helen Lunn of Coldbrook; Sandra Harrison (husband Earle) of Dartmouth; Joan Wile-Hathaway (husband Dalton) of Mt. Pleasant, N.B. and a step daughter, Arylene Spensor of Windsor, a son Albert (wife Leny) of Kentville and two stepsons, Laurie ( wife Marilyn) and Ronald (wife Agnes) both of Brooklyn, Hants Co., N.S. Also, her 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and two sisters, Doris Leopold, New Ross and Violet Dennison, British Columbia and one sister in-law, Shirley Barkhouse, of Delhaven, N.S. Also, her special friend Eldon Walsh, of Waterville, Kings Co., N.S. She was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Charlotte (Conrad) Barkhouse, her husband, Gilbert, an infant son (in 1953), three brothers, Aubrey, Alfred and Wilbert, two sisters, Evelyn Carver and Reta Spinney and three stepsons, Alvin Wile, Melburne Wile, Basil Wile and one stepdaughter, Olive Sylvia Ryan. She is resting at the Serenity Funeral Home, Wolfville, N.S. where the funeral service will be Saturday, June 22 at 2 p.m. Visitation will take place on Friday, June 21, 2 until 4 in the afternoon and in the evening, 7 until 9 p.m. Burial will take place in Habitant, Kings Co., N.S.
