Obituary of Eric Newell

Newell, Eric Harrison – age 75 years of Aylesford, passed away peacefully at the Valley Regional Hospital on October 16, 2013. Born in Cape Island, NS on August 17, 1938; he was the son of the late Eldridge and Josephine (Penney) Newell. Eric served in the Canadian Military for 25 years and worked with the transport and training of mechanics. After his retirement he loved to spend time with his friend’s long line fishing. Eric was also a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, branch #63 in Shelburne. Left with fond and loving memories are his companion Bessie V. Taylor; son Lester Newell of Lacombe, Alberta; daughters Yvonne Newell of Red Deer, Alberta and Bev Simoneau of Innisfail, Alberta; sisters Sharon Smith (John) of Barrington, Paulette Powely (Bill) of Barrington and Jocelyn Marchand (Bob) of Langdon, Alberta; grandchildren Robert, Melissa, Michelle, Erica and Jordan; also by his special fishing buddy Ray. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visiting or funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Eric may be made to the Shelburne Legion, branch #63 (120 Water St, Shelburne NS, B0T 1W0).
