Pooley, Robert George age 72 of Truro died in Colchester East Hants Health Centre on October 19 2013. He was the son of Mr. And Mrs. George Pooley and raised on Vinegar Hill, in Milford, Hants County. After graduating from High School (Hants East) Robert attended the Nova Scotia Normal School in Truro, taught two years at Hants North in Kennetcook. He hitchhiked across Canada, fell in love with the Canadian West and moved out there to teach. He earned the award Best Play and Best Director of British Columbia in 1968 when teaching in Kitimat. He travelled to many places to see his plays, including in 1970 he watched HAIR in Los Angeles at the Aquarius Theatre. He had started traveling to New York City to see plays and pick up fine recordings. Many trips to New York followed his first trip outside America was a Christmas Vacation from Yellowknife to the islands off the east coast of Columbia. He had already travelled to California and other states to visit Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, etc. In 1974, he travelled by air to London and Paris where he saw many plays and Opera. His trips to New York continued. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the U.B.C. In 1991 Robert returned to Nova Scotia to attend his fathers 80th Birthday and the reunion for his Milford School Classmates. He enjoyed both. In 1997, Robert flew to Kenya in East Africa to watch an African Safari the dream of a lifetime. The following year he flew to Los Angles to attend a Cowboy Film Festival he met Dale Evans and numerous other stars. Since then he has virtually retired moving back to Nova Scotia at age 65. He volunteered for a couple years at the Marigold Theatre in Truro. He is survived by sisters Marlene, Sylvia, Linda, Juanita, Debbie and brother Larry.
