Our Mother, T. Marcella Keddy of New Ross, passed away August 21st, 2012 in the quiet dignity with which she lived her life. Born in New Ross in 1922, she was the first born child of Seymour and Alice (Meister) Gates. She was always proud of her family, church and community. She was happily married to ???Jack?? Gordon Keddy. During the five years that Dad served in WWII, Mum relied on her incredible strength to raise two children, run a home and save toward purchasing their own home. In 1946 after Dad returned, they bought our family home in the Forties Settlement. Together they raised a family of six children; Terrance (Alva), Jeannine (Morley)Bezanson, Anna (Edison) Skerry Sr., Marsha (Charlie) Yeaton, Gerald (Judy Streatch) and Michael (Janet Larder) all residing of New Ross. Also surviving are sister Marie (Neil) Meister, New Ross and foster sister Mary Countway, Chester Basin also 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grand children; 1 great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Gordon, stillborn daughter Jacqueline, brothers Gerald, George, Vernon and Carroll. Mum was always a lady and her grace never faltered. She took great pleasure in her children, their families and her friends. She was an awesome Mother and a great cook. The smell of homemade bread was always in the air. Mum provided a loving home, filled with laughter and good times. She was always understanding and accepting, teaching the true values in life. She was a member of the Home & School when her children were young, a supporter of the Forties Community Centre, a Charter member of the Forties Garden Club and the New Ross Historical Society. Visitation will be held Thursday from 7-9pm at the Forties Community Centre. The funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00pm from the New Ross United Baptist Church, New Ross. Rev. Judith Tod officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Augustine Anglican Cemetery, Forties. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the New Ross United Baptist Church or to the Forties United Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements are under the care & direction of the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook.
