Cleveland, Dr. Eric Joseph, passed away in Blomidon Court Shannex, Greenwich, NS on August 27, 2012 at the age of 91. He was the son of the late Joseph and Gladys Cleveland. Born and raised in Dartmouth, Eric completed his MA, BSc, MD and residency in Psychiatry at Dalhousie University. He practiced Psychiatry in Digby, Wolfville and area and Yarmouth, taking an active role in establishing clinics in several locations. He was a lifelong learner, continuing to study and learn throughout his life. He had a passion for trying to understand the workings of the brain and preserving the environment. In his earlier years he enjoyed reading, hiking, gardening and scuba diving. Eric was predeceased by his parents, his only brother Harrison (Delta), second wife Mary (Holten), third wife Frances Hansen (Twohig). He is survived by daughters Jean (Ron) Boston, Middle LaHave; Helen (Chris) Seymour, Kentville; Shirley (Dick) Myers, Kingston, ON.; grandchildren: Trevor Boston (Leah Nacua) , Heather Boston (Norman Kock), David Seymour (Crystal Fudge), Andrew Seymour (Anne Merkley), Ken Myers, Anne Myers, great granddaughter, Nia. He is also survived by nephews, John and Gordon (Sue Colley) Cleveland and niece, Janet (Alain Mignault) Cleveland as well as 6 stepchildren and their families. Eric??s brain has been donated to the Maritime Brain Tissue Bank for medical research. A reception will be held on Saturday September 29th from 2-4 in Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook, NS.
