Bond, John Calvin, 84 of Centerville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville with family by his side. Born on August 24,, 1928 in Northville, Kings Co. he was the son of the late Calvin and Estella (Johnstone) Bond. John was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Aldershot. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6, and was also the chairman of the Poppy Fund for a couple of years. John worked for many years with the Corps of Commissionaires and was a mail courier in Cambridge and Coldbrook. As a hobby, John loved to fish and garden. Left with fond and loving memories are his loving wife of 33 years, Dorothy "Lillian" (Farmer) Bond, Centerville; his daughter, Lillian (Gerald)Benjamin, Kentville; son, Wilfred Bond (companion Mary Misner)Kentville; daughters, Minnie Cunningham, Kentville; Ethel (Gordon)LeBlanc, Lakeville; son, Everett (Jean) Bond, Lakeville; step daughter Evelyn "Cissy" Parker, Kentville; stepson, Michael (Sherri) Farmer Mt. Denson; sister, Minnie Kott, Hamilton, ON; brother, Benjamin (Dorothy) Bond, Kingston; sister, Kathleen Creamer, Lakeville; Lena Harper, Kentville; Muriel Butler, Cambridge; Marjorie (Bill) Gondar, Stoney Creek, ON; brother, Cecil (Margaret) Bond, Kentville; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife, Florence D. (Johnstone) Bond; sister, Margaret Johnstone; brothers-in-law Stanley Kott; James Johnstone; Walter Baltzer; Laurie Butler; son-in-law, Marshall Cunningham; grandsons, Jamie Pineo, and Christopher Williams; and great great granddaughter Emma Witter. A Legion service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday March 7, 2013 in the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park, Coldbrook, (Exit 14) followed by a viewing and a time of fellowship with friends and family. Funeral service will be held in the Bethany Memorial Baptist Church on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Thelma McLeod officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall with burial in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donation in memory of John made to the VON, Careforce, or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 would be appreciated by his family.
