Wood Jean Alice, 71 of Wolfville passed away peacefully Sunday December 7th 2003 at her home. Born in South Alton she was the daughter of the late Charles And Muriel ( Simpson ) Welton. Jean spent he childhood in South Alton and then she moved to Wolfville, Kentville, Dartmouth where she worked for Fairey Aviation and after a short time she and her husband Gerald moved back to the valley a place that they held dearly in their hearts. Jean was surrounded with many friends that filled he life joy, She always looked deep and saw the good in everyone, She would often go without to make sure others were cared for and their needs met, a kind and loving person that touched the lives of so many. Jean loved bingo and the time with her bingo friends. She had a deep love for animals and would often take in and care for those put aside by others. Jean worked in retail and was a long time employee of the Wolfville Nursing Home where she worked until her retirement due to medical reasons. Jean had a loving and caring family. A loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving, Her husband and friend of 54 years of marriage Gerald Wood of Wolfville. Son Steven A. ( Sandra ) Wood; Grand Pre, Brother Lawrence Welton; Wolfville, Nephews Donald, Charles and Bill Welton. grandchildren Olivia and Marlo that brightened her days and filled her life with love and joy. A memorial service celebrating Jeans life will be held Thursday December 11th at 2 PM from the Wolfville Ridge Baptist Church, Wolfville. Rev. Gary Manthorne will officiate with interment in the Willowbank cemetery, Wolfville. No visitation and family flowers only by request. A reception will follow the service, all are invited. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, WAGG, or charity of ones choice. Arrangements are under the care of Serenity Cremation & Funeral Specialists Inc.
