Lockhart, Maurice Clayton, 78 of Bloomington, Illinois, formerly of Avonport, Kings Co. passed away Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011 in Heritage Manor, Bloomington. Born in Avonport, he was a son of the late Harold & Ellen (Carey) Lockhart. At an early age he joined the army & served in the Korean War. After finishing his term in the forces he became a mechanic & worked in the Windsor area. He later began his masonry career in the Valley & then moved to California 48 years ago. While in California he owned & operated his own Marble business & belonged to the Bricklayers Association of America. Maurice is survived by his wife, Thelma (Stewart), Bloomington; daughter, Tanya (Michael) Mulligan, Tampa, Florida; 3 grandchildren; sisters, Kay (Ralph) Stirling, Wallbrook; Donna Lockhart, Kentville; brothers, Max (Mary), New Albany, Annapolis Co.; Philip (Ann), Upper Canard; numerous nieces & nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011 in the Avonport United Baptist Church. Rev. Gary Manthorne officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church hall. Interment will take place at a later date in Willow Bank Cemetery, Wolfville. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Maurice may be made to a charity of one??s choice. Funeral arrangements are under the care & direction of the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Coldbrook.
