Dexter, Barbara Louise, 77 of Avonport, Kings Co. passed away Monday, Jan. 09, 2012 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Avonport, she was a daughter of the late Leverett & Kathleen (Jones) Carey. Barbara is survived by her husband, Raymond; children, Wayne (Trina), Elmsdale; Richard (Janet),Lockhartville; Randall, Kentville; Paul (Celine), St. John, N.B.; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers, Bruce (Grace) Carey, British Columbia; Carl (Flo) Carey, Alberta; Arthur (Marge) Carey, Avonport; many aunts, uncles & cousins across Canada. She was predeceased by brothers Ronald & Malcolm. A funeral service followed by a reception will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, in the Avonport United Baptist Church, Avonport. Rev. Gary Manthorne assisted by Rev. Earl MacDonald officiating. Cremation will follow & burial will take place later in the spring. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. (Exit 14) Coldbrook. At the request of the family a scent free visitation & service would be very much appreciated. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Barbara may be made to a charity of choice.
