Hutchinson, Frank Avon, formerly of Port Williams, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2013 at the age of 91 years. He was a resident of Evergreen Home for Special Care in Kentville. Born May 24, 1922 in Avonport, he was the son of the late Emmerson & Iona (Barron) Hutchinson. Frank served with the 14th Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery during the Second World War, landed on Juno beach, and served the remainder of the war in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Upon coming home, Frank was never idle, utilizing his people skills with Slacks Electric in Hantsport and as a carpenter with various companies including working alongside his youngest brother, Richard. While not working, Frank with his wife spent countless hours tending their bountiful gardens surrounding their home & enjoying time at the cottage on Sunken Lake. In addition Frank was an active member of the Port Williams United Baptist Church and Royal Canadian Legion, Wolfville. He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Madelyn (Forsythe); loving & caring father to Gary (Sheila), Sunken Lake; Timothy (Judy Sawler), Sunken Lake; Holly (Matthew) Boates, Wolfville Ridge; and Kendall (Marilyn Richardson), Centreville; 8 grandchildren; Darrin Hutchinson (Courtney Henderson), Berwick; Nancy (Jarvis) Osborne, Napanee, Ontario; Devin Hutchinson, Bonnyville, Alberta; Dustin Hutcinson, Yellow Knife, NWT; Denise (Ilon Tyan) Hutchinson, Ottawa; Laura (Michael) Bailey, Halifax; Jill Boates (Colin Johnson), Dartmouth; Vanessa Hutchinson, Kentville; 5 great-grandchildren; Conlan Hutchinson, Alberta; Drew and Cole Osborne, Ontario; Ava Tyan, Ontario; Gabrille Bailey, Halifax; sisters, Madge (Vernon) Davison, Kentville; Barbara Joan Miller, Denver, Colorado; Carol (James) Legge, Greenwich; brother, Richard (Mary) Hutchinson, Avonport. Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by sisters, Margaret Rose (age 2 years); Mildred Lutwick, Frances Wellwood, Dorothy Reese, Jean Weagle; brother, Ralph. He will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, friends & comrades-in-arms. Dr. C.B. Lumsden, Branch # 74, Royal Canadian Legion, Wolfville will hold a service at 7:00 p.m. followed by visitation until 9 p.m. Thursday October 10, 2013 both from the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Coldbrook. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday October 11, 2013 in the Port Williams United Baptist Church. Rev. David Ogilvie officiating. Reception to follow in the Lockwood Hall. Interment will take place in Willow Bank Cemetery, Wolfville. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to a charity of one??s choice.
