Durling, Alden Ervin, 83 of North Alton, Kings Co. passed away Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009 at home. Born in Stanley, Hants Co., he was the son of the late Layton & Ivy (Nowlan) Durling. Alden was employed for 33 years with the Department of Transportation. He was a life member of the Annapolis Valley Shooting & Sports Club; a 10 year member of the King??s County Citizens Patrol & a member of the St. James Anglican Church, Kentville. Alden is survived by his son, Kirk (Nancy), New Minas; grandchildren: Kevin, New Glasgow; Karen ( Nathan) Schofield, Kentville; Kristy, New Minas; great grandchildren: Mariah, Austin, Tad & Noah; brother, Dwight (Margaret), Prospect; half brother, Fraser Caldwell; sisters: Helen Griffin, Coquitlam, B.C. & Jean Griffin, Port Williams. He was predeceased by his wife the former, Eva Lillian Burgoyne; brothers; Harmon, Richard Allison, Maxwell & Ronald; half brother, Donald Caldwell; sister, Elsie Cotter. Cremation has taken place under the care & direction of the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook. No visitation by request. A memorial service will take place 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1st in St. James Anglican Church, Kentville. Rev. Archdeacon Lynn Uzans officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
