Porter (Raniere), Madeline Claire, 73 of Port Williams, Kings Co. passed away Monday, July 12, 2010 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, surrounded by family and friends. She was the daughter of the late Leslie and Frances (Duffey) Raniere of Halifax. Madeline enjoyed many activities throughout her life, including bowling, gardening, tole painting and playing cards with family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Eric, Port Williams; sons, Joseph Cox, New Minas; Leslie (Mary Jo) Cox, Grand Pre; Robert (Cindy) Cox, Alberta; daughter, Erika (Shawn) Richards, Halifax; brothers, Lloyd, Halifax; Raymond (Marlene), Moncton: Robert (Mary), Eastern Passage; sisters, Marguerite (Peter) Richards, Cape Breton; Bernice MacDonald, Halifax; Valarie (David) Palmeter, Lower Sackville; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; special friends, Leota and Lena. Madeline was predeceased by her first husband, George Cox; son, Derek Cox and sister, Joyce Hindle. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. & prayers at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday all in the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook (Exit 14).The funeral mass will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 15 in St. Joseph??s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville. Rev. Father Craig Christenson officiating. Interment will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. Following the burial, reception will be held in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Madeline may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of one??s choice.
