Delisle, Jacques Roger , formerly of Quyon and Aylmer, P.Q., passed away peacefully at home in Wolfville on Saturday, September 25, 2010 following a valiant struggle with cancer. Loving and much loved husband of Sylvia (Canning) for 41 years. Also survived by his children, Danielle (Michel) Carter, Rina (Jean-Luc) Caner, Dennis (Helene) and John (Manon); 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. Lovingly remembered by Jessica, Marc-Andre and Jared and by special niece and godchild, Nancy Canning, godchild Christine Hager and the Canning family. Dear brother of Hazel (Aime), Marielle, Denise (Marcel), Gertrude and brother, Guy. Predeceased by sisters, Yolande and Anita. Born and educated in Quebec, Jacques' early career was spent in the mining industry in Northern Quebec and Newfoundland as an assayer and chemist. Later he returned to school earning a B.A. from the University of Montreal, a Dipl. Ed. from McGill and a M. Ed. from the University of Ottawa. Jacques taught school in Hull for 18 years prior to retiring in 1991. For the past 10 years , Jacques and Sylvia have resided in Wolfville where he was a member of the Lions Club and an associate member of the Canadian Legion. Jacques enjoyed life to the fullest, pursuing numerous interests, including curling, skiing, bridge, attending or watching many sports events, home renovations, genealogy, antique cars, reading, camping and family reunions- always making time to enjoy " a cold one" with his friends. Over the years, he and Sylvia travelled extensively to various parts of the world including, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean, Mexico and North America. Friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Jacques' life , Wednesday, September 29 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Andrew's United Church, Wolfville. Rev. Robyn Brown-Hewitt officiating. A reception to follow in the church hall. Private interment will take place at Peniel United Church Cemetery in Five Islands. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jacques memory may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses, Annapolis Branch, 46 Chipman Dr. Kentville, N.S. B4N 3V7 or to the Five Islands Cemetery Co. Five Islands, N.S.
