Obituary of James Forsyth

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The family of James William Forsyth, 88, are sad to announce his passing away peacefully at Grand View Manor, Berwick, on the 15th of April 2006. Born in Coldbrook on November 22, 1917, he was the son of the late Arthur Richard and Gertrude (Herbert) Forsyth. Jim was the fifth generation of the Forsyth family to till the Forsyth Homestead, and his stewardship has passed to his son, Brian. Family, friends, horses, Shorthorns and hard work were the corner posts of Jim's life, and Jim left feeling he had lived a happy and complete life. Our lives are better because Jim and his quiet dignity walked through them. He was an avid horseman and breeder of Standardbreds and a member of the United States Trotting Association. He raised and showed purebred Shorthorns throughout his life on the farm and was a life member of the Canadian Shorthorn Association. He also was presented with a Builder of the Breed Award by the Canadian Shorthorn Association. Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rosalie (Hiltz); son, Brian Douglas (Stephanie) Forsyth, Coldbrook; two special granddaughters: Alexa and Tiffany. He was predeceased by sister, Doris (Edwin) Haines and brother, Carl. There will be no visitation at Jim's request. Cremation has taken place. The funeral service will be held on Thursday (April 20th 2006) at 2:00 p.m. from the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook, with Rev. Archdeacon Lynn Uzans officiating. A reception will follow at the Coldbrook Lions Hall. Private interment will take place at the Forsyth family plot in the Berwick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grand View Manor, Berwick or to the St. James Anglican Church, Kentville. Online condolences may be sent to: director@annapolisvalleyfuneralhome.com
