States, Betty Yvonne, 71, of Hantsport, formerly of Avonport, Kings Co. passed away Monday, March 6, 2006, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Wolfville, she was a daughter of the late Nathan and Dorothy (England) Myles. Betty had been employed a long time as a cook at the Evangeline Snack Bar in Grand Pre and also worked with Haliburton Farms in Avonport. She took care of her mother and father for many years. Betty is survived by a son, Ronald (Brenda Lee Kelly) States, Kentville; 2 grandchildren: Ronald and Jacqueline; 3 great grandchildren: Brandon, Chelsey and Whitney; sisters: Jean (Herman) Morine, Avonport; Dorothy Kelly (Terry Beatty), Hortonville; brothers: Eric (Lorna) Avonport; Stanley (Wanda), Chester; Ernie (Pearl) Bishopville; Vernie (Lloma), Lockhartville; Budd (Ruth), Pictou; Gary "Duke", Wallbrook; Keith "Mickey"( Katherine), Port Hawkesbury. She was predeceased by her husband, Ray; sister, Hilda in infancy; brothers: Donald, Cecil and Robert. Visitation will be held 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Exit #14 Coldbrook. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday from the Avonport United Baptist Church., Rev. Gail Whalen-Dunn officiating. A reception will follow downstairs in the church . Interment will be in the Willow Bank Cemetery, Wolfville. Family flowers only by request. Donations in her memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
