Hirtle, Ida Griffin, 80, of New Minas, Kings Co., passed away Sunday, July 31, 2005 at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Avonport, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Russell and Mary Elizabeth (Holmes) MacDonald. Ida was a member of the Highland Senior Citizens Club in New Minas. She is survived by a daughter: Sharon Hirtle, Canning, a son: Rick (Connie) Hirtle, Fort McMurray, AB, 4 grandchildren: Craig, Tammy, Tony and Nissa, 2 great grandchildren; Mitchell and Kennedi, 7 sisters: Shirley Burgess, Bedford, Lois (Albert) Schofield) Greenwich, Jean (Frank) Sanford, New Minas, Helen Huntley, Berwick, Roxie (Russell) Redden, Somerset, Margaret "Bunny" (William) Workman, Victoria, B.C., a special niece Mary Ann Munroe and several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Laurie, brothers Clarence and William, sisters: Laura Hutt, Doris Lawrence, Elizabeth McBay and Mary in infancy. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, Coldbrook followed by cremation. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday followed by a reception both at the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, Coldbrook. Pastor Pamela Estey and Pastor Phil Locke officiating. Private interment will be in the Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport. Family flowers only by request. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
