Peters, Edward Leroy "Ted", 77, passed away on Tuesday July 11, 2006 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, N.S. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, he was a son of the late Ernest and Veronica (Noonan) Peters. Ted joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1947, served overseas in Korea and was posted at several bases in Canada and worked his way to become Chief Petty Officer, retiring in 1969. He then joined Michelin Canada and after 20 years service retired to Berwick in 1991. Ted was an active volunteer in his community including the building of the parish hall of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Berwick. Ted's greatest joy was his family. His passion was his model airplanes which were modeled after the ones he flew and a number of them are displayed in aviation museums in Shearwater and Greenwood. He is survived by his loving wife, the former Frances Skinner; sons: Edward (Joanne), Bible Hill; Gerald (Patricia), Aylesford; Timothy (Katrina), Calgary, Alberta; Michael (Shelly), Berwick; John, Port Williams; daughters: Theresa (Wayne) Eagles, Cherryfield; Wendy (Thomas) Chennell, New Glasgow; 17 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; sister: Joan Hickey, Souris, B.C.; brother: Ronald, Gabriola Island, B.C. ; adopted sister: Marie West, Mission City, B.C. Visitation will be Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m and prayers led by the CWL will be at 7:30 p.m. all in the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, Coldbrook. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Berwick. Rev. Father Gerald Saulnier officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. There will be a reception in the church hall following the interment. Family flowers only by request, donations in Ted's memory may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses.
