Alley, Edward Ralston "Ed", 68 of Berwick, Kings Co. passed away on Sunday, July 30th, 2006 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born & brought up in Hantsport, N.S., he was the son of Ella May (Strong) Alley of Bedford and the late William Stockwell Alley. He retired from Maritime Tel & Tel Company in December of 1997 and continued his passion of gardening, specializing in dahlias. Ed started his business, E & S Dahlias and sold tubers & cut flowers. Besides his mother, he leaves to mourn his wife of 45 years the former, Sylvia (Stanwood) ; daughter, Heather of Berwick ; son, George of Dartmouth; sisters: Bernice Alley, Bedford; Elizabeth Sanderson, Enfield; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Bill Alley. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 - 9 p.m. in the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. Coldbrook (Exit 14). A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 2nd, from the Berwick Baptist Church, Berwick. Rev. Murray Shaw officiating. Private interment in the Berwick Cemetery following the service. A reception to follow in the Annex of the church .Family flowers only. Donations in Ed's memory maybe made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Berwick Baptist Church or a charity of one's choice.
