Kay, Miriam May "Mim", 82 of New Minas formerly of Dartmouth, N.S., passed away on Thursday Nov. 16, 2006 in the Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, N.S.. Born in Deer Lake, Nfld., she was the daughter of the late Henry & Muriel ( Nichols) Pennel. She was a member of the Valley Cursillo movement. She loved to knit, play board games, bridge & spending time with her family at the cottage. Miriam is survived by her husband, Jerome "Jerry", Canaan; daughter, Paula (David) Hasler, Canaan; granddaughter, Shannon (Mark) Eastman, Canaan; grandson, Ryan, Canaan; sisters: Dorothy White, Corner Brook, Nfld., Marina Power, Cambridge, Ont.; brothers: Harold Pennel, Corner Brook, Nfld., Gordon Pennel, Cambridge, Ont.; many nieces & nephews in Newfoundland. She was predeceased by her infant brother, Chesley. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, Coldbrook . No visitation by family request. Funeral service will be, Monday, Nov. 20th at 2:00 p.m. from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kentville. Father Craig Christenson officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Miriam's memory to the Alzheimers' Society of Canada or the Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville.
