Stewart, Loran Robert, 82, Hortonville, Kings Co. passed away peacefully, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, on July 19, 2008 with his family at his side. He was the son of the late Corrie & Grace (Smith) Stewart of Hortonville. He operated the family farm until his retirement.. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Joan (Phillips) Stewart who faithfully cared for him through his battle with cancer. Loran is also survived by sons: Paul (Alison) and their children, Cory, Julia and Bradley; Alan (Janice) and their children, Emily, Connor and Will; David (Nancy) and their children, Alexandra, Hannah and Caitlin; daughter, Lorna (Duane Rath) and their children, Raelee and Morgan; daughter-in-law, Audrey Stewart. Loran is survived by numerous nieces & nephews who fondly called him, "Uncle Bud".Loran was predeceased by his youngest son, John Mark in 1993 and by his four sisters and their husbands; Mildred (Mark Bredin), Hazel (Don Spires), Norma (Clarence Burton) & Doris Stewart. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Valley Regional Hospital for their care and compassion over the past few months and to nurses, Shirley and Jason who made those last few hours as comfortable as possible. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Monday & funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday both from the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook. Burial will be in the family plot Lower Horton Cemetery, Grand Pr?. Family flowers only. Donations in Loran??s memory may be made to Valley Hospice Foundation, 23 Ernscliffe Ave. Wolfville; Carey Me Palliative Care Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
