Nasager, Miriam Esther Elizabeth, (January 17, 1939). It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Miriam Esther Elizabeth (Nowlan) Nasager of New Minas announce her departure to heaven on, Tuesday, February 03, 2009. Born in Wolfville, she was the younger daughter of the late Karl and Minnie (Cross) Nowlan. After attending Acadia University, she traveled the world by passenger ship. Miriam worked in Montreal, Toronto, Sydney, Australia and London England. She worked mainly with the banks; Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Barclay??s Bank and the Bank of Montreal. She was an avid gardener, putting up preserves to ensure a healthy lifestyle for her family. Well respected in the community, she was a member of the IOOF Orpheus Lodge in Wolfville and taught Sunday School in Pentecostal churches in various towns. Miriam is survived by her husband, Leo; daughters, Ingrid Nasager de Ortuzar (Martin), Toronto, ON; and Aileen Nasager, Halifax; all of whom agree that she was the best cook in town. She is also survived by siblings, Karl (Joyce), Falmouth; Joyce Nowlan, Wolfville; James (Betty), Burlington, ON; Dwight (Patricia), Oakville, ON; Bruce (Pearl), Elgin, NB and Paul, Wolfville. Visitation will be held from 3-5 & 7-9p.m. Friday in the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. (Exit 14) Coldbrook. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, from the Kingsway Assembly, Kentville. Pastor Terry Penney officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will take place in Willow Bank Cemetery, Wolfville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses or Multiple Sclerosis Society, Atlantic Division.
