Lynn Nygren Hoffmann passed away Saturday November 9, 2013 following a stroke. She was 73. Born in Brooklyn, New York on October 1, 1940, she graduated from Stony Brook University and later attended Harvard University. She became a test pilot for Cessna and accumulated more than 7000 hours in the air. When she was 22 she met her husband and the love of her life, Ed Hoffmann, in Spain, and they were later married. They came to the Annapolis Valley in 1969 after visiting the area at apple blossom time and established Weston Poultry Limited which owned as many as seven farms in the district, the last one being a beef operation in Canard. They lived in Kingsport and later moved to Canning. Ed died in 2002. Lynn sold real estate for many years and served as President of the Annapolis Valley Real Estate Board and the Nova Scotia Real Estate Association. She was most proud of her role in the formation of the Nova Scotia Real Estate Commission. She held a valid license at the time of her death. She is survived by her brother Hamilton Nygren and sister-in-law Margaret, whom she had known since she was twelve, both of Maine and Key West, FL.; two nephews, James and Kirk Nygren, and their families, both of Maine; as well as her stepsons, Michael Hoffmann of Pennsylvania, Robert, of Connecticut, and Thomas of West Virginia as well as several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and by close friends, Brian and Linda Hirtle, Peter and Jane Little, Gerry and Andree Klassen, Denis and Toni Campbell, neighbours, Roy Beattie and Trui Kabel and many others. As per her request Lynn has been cremated and a celebration of her life will take place at a later date. Donations in Lynns memory may be made to the World Wildlife Fund.
