Stead, Winnifred Alice age 85 years of Kentville, passed away peacefully at the Orchard Court Shannex in Kentville on November 23, 2013.
Born in Kentville on January 25, 1928; she was the daughter of the late Frank and Winnifred (Adams) Stead.
Winnifred grew up on her fathers dairy farm on Belcher St, Kentville.
She graduated from Kings Co. Academy and MACK Business School.
For 24 years she worked as a secretary at the Kentville Research Station and at the chaplains office in CFB Greenwood for 12 years.
Her passion in life was dancing, and loved going to the dances at Evangeline Beach.
She was a member of Canadian Square & Round Dance Society.
Winnifred was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survived by her nephew Larry (Susan) Powell of Lawrencetown, Annapolis County; nieces Nancy Richards (Peter) of Kellys Cross, PEI, Dr. Ruth Powell of Prince George, B.C, Laura Powell (Peter) Blooming Point, PEI and Bev Busby (Andy) of Hazelton, B.C; also by several great nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her sister Marjorie Powell and brother in law Rev. John Powell; longtime traveling companion Al Brown; friend and dancing partner Garnet Zwicker.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am from the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, Wolfville Chapel with Rev. Gary Manthorne officiating.
Respecting her love for animals, donations in memory of Winnifred may be made to the S.P.C.A.
