SMITH (Baker), Ethel Irene - 70, passed away June 6, 2004, in the VG

Site, QEII, Halifax. Born in Gullivers Cove, Digby Co., she was a

daughter of the late Noah and Olia (Harnish) Baker. During her working

years Ethel was an active business woman and homemaker. She

enjoyed playing cards, especially with her grandchildren. She is

survived by beloved husband, Charles, Digby; daughter, Margaret (Rex)

Halliday, Rossway, Digby Co.; son, Howard (Helen Marie) Smith, New

Minas; brother, William (Reta) Baker, Windsor Junction; sisters, Frances

Oikle, North Range, Digby Co.; Ida Halliday, Gullivers Cove, Digby

Co.; grandchildren, Brycen and Stephanie Halliday, Andrew and

Courtney Smith; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased

by brother, Franklin; sisters, Helen Comeau, Lillian Melanson.

Donations in memory of the late Ethel Irene Smith may be made to the

Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), Canadian Diabetes

Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of

one's choice. Cremation has taken place and arrangements are under

the care of Serenity Cremation & Funeral Specialists Inc. PO Box 239,

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2004, in Holy

Cross Catholic Church, Plympton, Digby Co., Father Keith Billiard

officiating. Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
