Roode, Floyd Russell C.D. - age 74 of Belmont, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Friday December 06, 2013 in the East Hants Health Center in Truro. Born August 19, 1939 in Belmont, he was a son of the late Russell and Rita (Totten) Roode. Floyd was a military veteran having served with the Canadian Guards, 1st Battilion as a Peace Keeper, serving in Canada, Germany and Cyprus. He operated his own business as a bricklayer for many years and upon retirement he was the maintaince supervisor for the Truro Center for 27 years. Floyd was an avid hunter and loved fishing, camping and spending time in Cape Breton with his best friends Tom and Mary. Floyds greatest love was his family and friends, his eyes would sparkle when he shared a funny story or held one of his grandchildren on his lap. Floyd is survived by his wife Karen(Dykens), daughters Joanne(Marshall)Weir, Belmont; Wanda(Robert)Forrest, Halifax; foster daughter, Patricia Weir, Glenholme; foster son, Percy(Marilyn)Murray, London,ON; sisters, Geraldine Caverly; Faye Roode, both of Truro; brothers, James(Shirley)Roode, Belmont; Raymond (Linda) Roode,Truro; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by former wife Marilyn(Kaulback) Roode, son, Floyd Greggory Roode; sisters, Shirley Lindsay; Maxine Rushton and a sister in infancy. There will be no visitation by request. A celebration of Floyds life will be held on December 13, 2013 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # Debert. Pastor Steve Adams officiating. Spring interment in Middle Road Cemetery, Debert. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Bruce Phillips; VON ; nurses on the 3rd floor D wing for their excellent care and support. A special thank you to friends for cards and food. In lieu of flowers, donations in Floyds memory may be made to the Colchester food bank or charity of choice.
