Melanson, Troy James - age 39 of Digby, formerly Marshalltown, passed away December 22, 2013 in Digby General Hospital. Born in Digby on February 26, 1974 he was the son of the late Howard and Peggy (Robar) Melanson. Before Troy became sick in 2006, he was a scallop fisherman. Troy is survived by his siblings Gail Hicks of North Range, John “Bull” (Krista) of Digby, Peter (Brenda) of Digby, Mark of North Range and sister in law Laura Melanson of Marshalltown. Also nieces Tasha, Sarah, Erin, Breanne, Kirby and Shelby and nephew Jason. Great nephews, Evan and Reyce and great niece Macie. Troy was predeceased by brothers Gary and Trevor and brother in law Richard Hicks. The family would like to thank Dr. John Black, doctors and nurses of the oncology and bone marrow floor at the VG Hospital, Halifax for the many years of care and the 2nd floor nurses of Digby General Hospital. Keeping with Troy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of Troy’s life on January 11, 2014 at the Sunset Beverage Room, Conway from 1-4pm, all are welcome. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the One Match-Bone Marrow Registry (Canadian Blood Services Fundraising & Development 1800 Alta Vista Drive, Ottawa ON K1G 4J5 or 1-888-236-6283) or the Didgy Gereal Hospital.
