Danny -
Well. My Dad "happened" to mention on Tuesday that he saw Bob's obituary in the paper. I have to admit, I dissolved into tears. His last email said his sisters were coming, so when I didn't get a reply to my last rambling to him, I assuming he was enjoying his time with them. My thanks to you both for including me in the fabric of your friendships. I will miss his stories, his kindness and his gentle smile.

A long time ago, Bob Stead helped me deal with a financial situation while I was a student at Acadia. He was calm and professional during the entire process. I never forgot what he did for me, and it was a pleasure to watch his career from afar over the years.
What Bob Stead did for me so long ago meant so much to me. It may have just been another day at the officer for him, but not for me. I have to wonder how many other lives he touched in a positive way over the years, and how many of those people appreciated and respected him for it. I hope that he knew how much he was liked and respected by the people who knew him and even the schleps like me who had one-time dealings with him over the decades of his public service. I hope that, from time to time, he reflected on all the good he did and all the people he helped. And I hope that brought him some measure of peace and happiness.
Rest in peace, Bob Stead. And to his husband Danny, my very best to you during this difficult time.

So sorry to hear of Mayor Stead's passing. He was gracious enough to mentor Montague Town Council as we switched to the Committee of Council system similar to what he used as Mayor. This system has transformed the way we do business, and much of the credit goes to Bob and his colleagues and their willingness to help. The Council in Montague, PEI was saddened to learn of his passing; a good man taken too early. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Danny and family,
I was deeply saddened to learn of Bob's passing. I had the priviledge of working with Bob on a number of tobacco and pesticide related bylaws and provincial legislation. Bob's remarkable leadership on these issues, and so many others, prompted many of us in advocacy circles to endearingly refer to Wolfville as "the Little Town that Could"! I greatly appreciated Bob's informed and thoughtful approach, his positive outlook, caring demeanor, as well as his delightful sense of humour. Always a gentleman, Bob was held in the utmost regard by all he worked with. May your many treasured memories bring you some measure of comfort during this difficult time. With sincere sympathy, Meg

It was 1979 and I had worked for a year after failing out at Lakehead University while swimming with the National Program. I told Bob or "Mr Stead" that no swimmer had been successful with 6hrs a day in the water and attending full time. Mr. Stead was empathetic and in front of me called Dean Widdup at L.U.(Long distance phone calls were horrendously expensive and unheard of) Bob then looked at me and said "go home" I'll call you at lunch.
12:00 my phone rang and without so much as an introduction he said "Gareth "Come on Down" the best words I had ever heard. Bob believed in me and allowed me the opportunity to gain so much more than an education. Bob was ever the gentleman and an incredible human being.
I have missed his presence since moving away some 30 years ago. Bob will always be in my life, his intelligence , integrity and empathy are something I strive to emulate every day. Danny, I have not met you but I can only imagine the loss you feel, I am sad for you and all those lives who your partner so graciously touched. Gareth
