Leopold, Doris Madeline - Our beautiful mother peacefully slipped away on February 25, 2014 at the age of 90 years. Formerly of Medford, Kings Co., she resided all her married life in New Ross, Lunenburg, Co. Doris was born on September 15, 1923 in her beloved Medford, NS. Mom often spoke of all the good times she and her siblings had exploring the beach, catching the Kipawa to Wolfville or the train to Canning. Doris loved the outdoors and going for walks in the woods in New Ross. Doris was predeceased by her parents Clarence and Charlotte (Conrad) Barkhouse; husband Jerome; son Garnet; brothers Aubrey, Alfred, and Wilbert; sisters Evelyn Carver, Reta Spinney and twin sister Dorothy Wile. Survived by her sister Violet Dennison of British Columbia; sons Loran (Stella) and Lionel' daughters Ellen (Stephen) and Brenda-Lee (Arthur); 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; sister in law Shirley Barkhouse of Delhaven and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, Wolfville Chapel on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. Also visitation will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 in the New Ross Baptist Church from 11am until the time of the funeral service at 2pm with Rev. David Hine officiating. Donations in memory of Doris can be made directly to the New Ross Baptist Church.
