Obituary of Mary Ganong

Ganong, Mary - 97, Tideways, Wolfville, passed away March 11, 2014 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Winnipeg, MN; she was a daughter of the late Joe and Sophie (Wise) Potashner. In her early years she was a business owner, having owned her own flower shop. Mary was a long-standing member of the Women Of Wolfville; she was a social activist, lover of music, taking courses at Acadia and enjoyed going to theatres. She is survived by daughters, Linda Ruth(Phil) Ciglen, Toronto; Debra Ganong(Jean Seguin), Dorval, QC; son, Joseph William(Priya Rehnsi), Pointe Claire, QC; three grandchildren, Sophie Ciglen, Lucas and Karysma, Rehnsi-Ganong; brother Bert (Shirley) Potashner, Toronto; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Reid Howe Ganong; brother Sam Potashner and wife Frieda. In keeping with Mary's wishes cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday March 15 at 2:30pm in Manning Memorial Chapel, Acadia University with Chaplain Tim McFarland officiating. Reception to follow.
