Obituary of Audrey F. Helpard-Poirier

Helpard–Poirier, Audrey – age 86 years of Coldbrook, passed away peacefully at the Valley Regional Hospital on July 29, 2014. Born in Waterville on July 30, 1927; she was the daughter of the late Perez and Eva (MacDow) Lloyd. Audrey lived in Halifax for the majority of her life. After staying at home to raise her daughters, she worked as an Office Clerk for Sears. She was an avid square dancer with the Scotia Dancers and loved to play crib. She was a well-loved friend and neighbour. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her daughters Susan Helpard and Jill Frizzell (Shawn Belanger); dear sister Nell Ward; beloved grandchildren Jessica (Darin Wheaton), Ryan and A.J (Amber Payne); and great grandchildren Maci and Emsley; long time friends Sylvia Larade and Carol Begin; beloved cat Misty; also by numerous nieces, nephews and a large extended circle of family and friends. Audrey was predeceased by her first husband Parker (Arthur J) Helpard and second husband Alphonse Poirier; brothers Merrill, Lester and Beverly, sisters Jean and Verba. In keeping with Audrey’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be a graveside memorial service held on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 1pm from the Cambridge Cemetery. Family flowers only please. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Audrey may be made to the SPCA or the Humane Society. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the care and kindness provided by the doctors and nursing staff on Medical A at the Valley Regional Hospital.
