Dear Mary,
Dale and I were very sad to hear of Gerry's passing. I fondly remember how much he loved to watch Leigh and Tessa play outside; He would always comment on how Leigh was hard at work all day building his snow fort and how Tessa was the boss. I have many fond memories of visiting with both of you on your veranda.

We are saddened to hear of Gerry's passing. Fond memories of him go back many years in St. Andrews United Church. Gerry made wooden Christmas toys that decorated the food tables at the Christmas potluck suppers. He carved a new one each year and added them to a collection. We loved hearing the local history he could share having lived many years in Wolfville. Never to be forgotten.

I was saddened to learn of Gerald's passing on our return to Wolfville yesterday. Jim and I have such fond memories of sitting in front of Gerald and Marion at St Andrews. We would come early just to hear more of his stories and tall tales. We will remember him fondly always and keep noth of you in our thoughts and prayers.

Gerald was a very wonderful friend and it meant a lot to me that HE be the creator of my urn. He even carved a head of wheat for the lid(true to my prairie farming heritage). We also have several of Gerald's bird carvings, a basket shooting toy(which has provided much entertainment for all ages over the years) and a lazy susan. As you can see, he 'signed' his creations with the handpainted tags one of you daughters(?) created for him. He was very proud of those tags ~ and mostly HIS FAMILY!! He loved you dearly and happily talked about each of you to us when we visited. Signed Vina(pronounced like China, though your mom Marion used to call me "Veenie"

Our first Sunday in St. Andrew's United we were greeted by Marion who was delighted to find that she and Gwynneth shared branches in the same family tree. What a warm sprightly welcome we enjoyed. Then To meet, Gerald the raconteur par excellenCE. What a great experience to hear his unique view of happenings in the Valley and especially at Acadia. He had the whole Men's Breakfast Group in stitches each morning we met. There ARE few who could match him as a story-teller and as a Christian.

Dear Marion, Karen, Susan, and families,
I was saddened to read of Gerald's death in the paper this morning. I enjoyed the times I visited with you both, Marion, first when I was a student minister in Wolfville and later when I came to minister in the Valley. You were one of the last people I visited before i left there and I have such fond memories of Gerald as I called him "my loving curmugdion". Indeed, he was a special man and will be missed. Know that he lives on in my memory as he will yours forever. May those memories and God's love bring you comfort and sustain you in the weeks, days, and months ahead. In Peace and sympathy, Gloria
