Obituary of Elisabeth Acker

Acker, Elisabeth – 87 of Somerset, passed away Thursday October 9th, 2014 at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in S’Heerenberg, Netherlands, she was a daughter of the late Anton and Elise (Müshen) Bloemendal. Elisabeth was a lifelong member of the Berwick United Church and a member of the Faith and Sharing Group of the church. She was an avid Bingo player, enjoyed a good card game of Canasta, enjoyed knitting, gardening, watching and feeding the birds. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother to her family. Elisabeth is survived by her sons, William (Gail), Somerset, Robert (Nancee), Waterville, Arthur (Brenda), Somerset, Ronald (Alma), Victoria Hrb.; daughters, Linda (Darren) Dillman, Carroll’s Corner, Barbara (Jim McGregor) Acker, Somerset; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one great great grandson; several brother and sister in-laws. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Acker; daughter, Elise Houghton; brothers, Willem, Anton, Johann and Erich Bloemendal; sisters, Johanna Van Stuivenberg, Erna Willemsen. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Friday, October 10th at Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, Berwick Chapel, 192 Commercial St., Berwick (902-538-9900). Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 11th at the Berwick United Church, 272 Commercial St., Berwick - Reverend Tom Woods officiating. Interment will follow in Berwick Cemetery.
