Coldwell, Ferne Juanita age 84 years of Avonport, passed away at the Valley Regional Hospital on January 21, 2015.
Born in Black River on September 29, 1930; she was a daughter of the late Emery and Vera (Reid) Nowlan.
Ferne was a member of the Avonport Baptist Church.
She had a passion for the game of hockey and could challenge anyone to hockey trivia; above all she was a devoted wife and proud of her 10 children.
Left with fond and loving memories are her sons William (Karen) of Windsor, Philip of Coldbrook, Graeme (Allison) of Wolfville and Stephen of Alberta; daughters Susan Coldwell (Blair Freeman) of Fall River, Linda Marriott (Vaughan) of Grand Pre, Valeria Stailing of Nine Mile River, Joy Hamilton (Jim) of South Alton, Angela van de Riet (John) of Shubenacadie and Lisa Coldwell of Ottawa (Abdellah El Bilalli); sisters Mabel Nowlan of Kentville, Jean Coldwell of Avonport, Ruby Dodge of Bedford and Gail Ross of Kentville. She will also be sadly missed by her 24 beloved grandchildren and 12 adored great grandchildren.
Predeceased by her husband William in 2006; grandson Evan Christopher Coldwell in 2007; brothers Morley, Arden and Ronald; sisters Irma, Zena and Violet.
Visitation will take place on Friday, January 23, 2015 from 5-8pm at the Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, Wolfville Funeral Chapel (568 Main St). Funeral service to be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 2pm from the Avonport Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Fevens officiating.
Special acknowledgement to her nephew Douglas Coldwell, son in law Vaughan Marriott and granddaughter Julienne Coldwell.
Donations in memory of Ferne made to the Canadian Diabetic Association, Canadian Cancer Society or the Avonport Baptist Church would be appreciated by her family.
