BENEDICT, Austin H. - Age 94 of Wolfville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 in Shannex, Kentville. Born in Falmouth, Hants Co., he was the son of the late Russell and Emily (Wiles) Benedict and step-mother Cathella (Sanford) Benedict. Austin devoted his life to his family and his home. He was a very dedicated worker, starting at a very young age doing farm work, working in the woods, driving truck, and with over 16 years at the NSLC, Wolfville, from which he retired as Assistant Manager in 1986. He took great pride in his property and always grew a weed-free garden and beautiful roses. Austin was always willing to help those in need and greatly cared for his wife and family. He also had a way of relating to horses and other animals. Austin is survived by his loving wife of 73 years Ruth (Smith) Benedict; daughters Gloria (Brian) Isnor, Gaspereau; Dianne Isnor (John VanBuskirk), White Rock; Linda (John) Patterson, Hants Border; grandchildren, Luanne Isnor, Kendall (Trish) Isnor, John (Dawn) Isnor, Lisa (Brian Martin) Isnor, and Kimberley Fox; brothers Harold and Paul; sisters Pauline and Isabel; five great-grandchildren Kayla, Evan, Ryan, Hannah and Nathaniel; one great-great grandson Tresean. His grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild were especially dear to him. He was predeceased by brothers Donald, Robert, Russell Jr. and sisters Mary and Gertie. A Memorial Service will be held in the Wolfville Funeral Chapel, 568 Main Street on Sunday, May 31 at 3p.m. with George Laevens officiating. Reception to follow. Interment at a later date. By request family flowers only. Donations may be made in Austin's memory to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Canada or the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation. The family would like to thank those who provided professional and loving care for Austin over the last year.
