SHEFFIELD, Mabel Ann, It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Mabel Ann Sheffield on May 30, 2015. Born on December 30, 1935 at St. Vincent's Hospital, Staten Island New York, she was a daughter of the late Marie (Barmes) and Hobart Pierce. Mabel came with her family to Canada in 1945 to live with her grandmother, Lena Pierce, East Sable River. She moved to Osborne Harbor and attended the one room school for several years before moving to Lockeport Rural High School where she graduated in 1954. She graduated in 1955 from the Pathological Institute, Halifax with her RT. Employed at both provincial (QEH) and federal (Camp Hill) Hospitals. After her children started school, she graduated from a commercial course and began work at Huyck Canada (Coldbrook) as a Secretary/Buyer. After retiring, she worked 3 years at the Student's Union, Acadia University. Mabel was a member of the St. John's Anglican Church, Port Williams. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, woodworking, swimming, winters in Florida and summers at the cottage in Shelburne. She is survived by sons Darrell (Kim Levy), Port Williams; Gregory Grug (Jill Woodworth), Camperdown; four grandchildren Wesley, Hayden, Emma and Molly; sisters Doris Smith (Paul) and Kathy Taylor of Shelburne. Predeceased by husband Cecil and brother Hobert Jr. Duke. A Memorial Service will be held at the St. John's Anglican Church, Port Williams on Wednesday, June 3rd at 2pm with Rev. Peter Harris officiating. Interment in the St. John's Anglican Cemetery. Reception to follow at the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mabel's memory may be made to the St. John's Anglican Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.
