Obituary of Minnie Edith Lynk
Please share a memory of Minnie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lynk, Minnie Edith, of Canning and Kentville passed away at Evergreen Home for Special Care on August 27, 2015 at the age of 103. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Ross, Kentville, granddaughter, Stacy Woolf, Calgary, step grandsons, Chris Ross, Halifax, David Ross, Aylesford, great-grandchildren, Ashley Woolf, Calgary, Ethan Woolf, Calgary and Nicholas Ross, Kingston. Mom was a Home Children who came to Canada from Middlemore Home in Birmingham England at the tender age of 14. She was placed on a farm in New Brunswick where she quickly learned to milk the cows and gather the eggsall new for a frightened child from a big city. I was told many similar stories by Mom about her early life in Nova Scotia. Some pretty, some not. But through it all Mom got strong and learned early on to stick up for herself. When she moved to Canning, she met my Dad and they were married. Unfortunately Dad passed away when he was 56. Mom remained a widow until her death. Now, she and he can pick up where they left off. Mom was a terrific cook and homemaker. Her pies were often ordered by neighbours and friends. Mom in all of her years never visited a restaurant. She would tell me that you didnt know who had sneezed all over your plate. At home, you knew what you were getting. I firmly believe that this and the fact that she ate a big bottle of Tums every week, contributed greatly to her longevity. Mom has been cremated and there will be no visitation or funeral by request. A private burial will be held at a later date.
