SAUNDERS, ROY A. - Harmony, Kings County. Roy was born on 4 December 1936 in Harmony, and passed away on 11 September 2015 at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. He was the son of the late Guilford and Grace (Barkhouse) Saunders. Survived by his wife Marilyn (Collins), Harmony; daughters, Dawn, Middle Sackville; Lisa (Michael Green), Harmony; son, Dale (Cathie), Bible Hill; grandchildren, Tim, Jill (James) and Emily Saunders; Iain and Erin Green; special niece Trisha (Richard) Urquhart, New Minas. He was predeceased by an infant sister. Roy loved to drive, and worked throughout his life as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He picked apples in Massachusetts for many years. He enjoyed old cars, hunting and fishing with the boys, working in the woods, ox and horse pulls, and community fairs. He was a supporter of the Western Kings Community Fair for many years, and was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church. He enjoyed a good game of cards, and loved kids, dogs, cats, and calves. According to Roy's wishes, a family graveside service will be held, with Rev. Janet Baker officiating. A reception will be held on Saturday, September 19, from 2:00-4:00 p.m., at the Kingston Fire Hall. Donations in memory may be made to Harmony Baptist Church (roof fund) or to the Western Kings Community Fair. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, Berwick Funeral Chapel, 902-538-9900.
