PEARL, Elizabeth Kathleen (Kay), 78, resided in Lake Paul with her daughter. The family is sad to announce that their mom passed peacefully away at the Valley Regional Hospital on October 19, 2015. Born on March 15, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Annie (Edwards) Ayres. Kay was a mother at the young age of 14 years and started her working career as a waitress, eventually owning and operating her own The Black Forest Restaurant. She is survived by her partner of 26 years Lloyd Crossman; son, Philip Hurshman, New Brunswick; daughters, Judy Soberal, Ontario; Heather Polk, Calis, Maine; Marilyn Stewart, New Brunswick; Jane Fowler, Halifax; Linda Bezanson, Lake Paul; brothers, Jimmy, Ernie, David; sisters, May, Marjorie, Susan (Kathleen being the eldest); several grand children, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral or visitation by request. Donations in Kay's memory may be made to the SPCA ,(she loved her animals). Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home and Chapels, Coldbrook (902) 679-2822.
