Obituary of Paul Wilson Dykens
Please share a memory of Paul to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Paul greeted the world on March 3th, 1953, Wolfville NS to the proud parents Arthur and Julia (Pineo) Dykens. The earlier years of Paul's life were spent in Canning NS where he developed a strong relationship with his grandparents (Pineo) that continued throughout their life.
Eventually the family moved to Ontario and that is where Paul's passion for drumming took root. During the 1970's through 1990's Paul was established as a well known drummer in the music circuit. As live music gave way to electronics, Paul retrained as a taper and drywaller in the construction field. He never lost his passion for drums and if drums were not available he would tap a beat on anything handy. This became very apparent to anyone who knew Paul.
Paul was a man who truly enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved to sit in the backyard with his fire pit aglow, smoking a cigarette, sipping a beer and chatting to friends and neighbours.
Paul's four brothers, Kevin, Clark, Brian and Terry all held a special place in his heart. Their loyalty for him showed through the last week of his life. They never faltered on their hospital visits.
Paul's children were his greatest pride, Scott, Christopher and his little sweet pea Krysten. Krysten showed her strength and love for her Father during his last week in hospital.
Paul will always be remembered for his quick smile and good nature ways to go along with his sweet talk. His battle with Liver disease was tough but he never complained. Sadly, his illness got worse and his health failed him.
"It is hard to say good bye Paul, we loved you and will carry your memory in our heart forever, rest in Peace".
