Gordon Lyall McLean
Born September 30, 1930 in Springhill, NS, Gordon Lyall McLean died peacefully at his home March 27, 2016. Loyal pet Coco kept him company to the end. The son of the late Flora Jean (McManaman) and Windsor McLean, he is survived by wife Faye, sister Jeanette Babineau (Roger) and children Kathy (Dave Carter), Tom (Lee), Barbe Perrin (Paul), Dejah Côté (Bill Coulter), grandchildren Jaime, Michael, Alex, Tim, Adrian, Devin, Taylor, Julian, Josh, Chelsea and Caleb, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by daughter Ruth (Brian Adams), sister Joan Smith (Hilton), first wife Pauline (Tingley) Sturgeon.
Gordon graduated from Amherst Regional High School as valedictorian in 1948 and was employed by Maritime Telegraph and Telephone Ltd. until his retirement in 1984. He was associated with Telephone Pioneers, St. Mary’s University Alumni and Dartmouth Players. Special thanks to medical and support staff, especially to the dialysis units in Halifax and Dartmouth, departments of nephrology, urology and oncology, Palliative Care, VON, Continuing Care and RJF Homecare. Per his wishes, there will be no service and the body has been donated to science. In memoriam donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
