Obituary of John Stanmore Maynard

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Stanmore Maynard, 76, died peacefully in the Valley Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness. Everyone who knew him, in Barbados, Montreal and Harbourville loved, respected and admired his exceptional ability to make friends, to remember names and faces, and vividly recall events from the distant and near past. His engaging smile and twinkling eyes made the world around him a happier place. His wife, Jean Huntley-Maynard, cherishes their 35 years of marriage. His beloved cats: Feather, Laia and Kitty Kitty will miss sleeping on or near him, and our dog Mickey will no longer enjoy daily walks with him. John is survived by his two sons Russell, Barbados and Roger, Colorado. His two brothers Mark, Barbados and Trevor, Bermuda, sisters Peggy, Barbados, Norma, Trinidad, Cheryl, Barbados and Maria, England: all mourn his passing. He was predeceased by his parents and his eldest sister Joyce. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home and Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook, NS (902-679-2822). An informal reception will take place at the Harbourville Community Hall on Saturday, April 2nd 2:00pm. All are welcome to come and share their favorite memories of Stanmore. At a later date, a funeral service will be held at St. Stephen’s Church in Barbados. His ashes will be scattered in the Caribbean near Brighton Beach where he loved to swim as a child. Memorial donations may be made to the VON who cared for him so lovingly the past few years. Online condolences may be made by visiting: wwwserenitylindsayfuneralhome.ca
