Robert (Bob) William Collins, age 77, of St. Croix, N.S. passed away peacefully on May 15th, 2016 at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, N.S. surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was the son of the late Norman Collins and the late Selena (Pearl) Collins, and was born in Windsor, N.S. He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Peggy, sons Jody (Carol) of Ellershouse, N.S. and Robert (Donna) of Pine Grove, N.S., grandson Jody (Christina) of PEI and great grandchildren Alexander, Aidan, Brianna, Dominic and Isabella, brothers Michael (Bonnie), Frederick (Cynthia), Garry (Susan), Thomas (Elsie) and David (Darla). He is also survived by his aunt Ruth Redden, nephews, nieces and cousins. He is already missed by his cat, Missy. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Norma Hebb and his brothers Ronald and Norman.
Bob worked for many years at Windsor Building Supplies, Dept. of Transportation and Hampshire Court Motel. He was well known as a talented musician playing most instruments, his favorites being the tenor saxophone and clarinet. He played trombone in the 14th Field Regiment Band and tenor saxophone in many dance bands including The Tornadoes, Avontones, Focus and initially formed "The Collins Mix" which later became known as the Chamber Music Society of Lower Grey St, Windsor, N.S. He shared his love of music with his sons Jody and Rob and recorded songs which will be played at his Celebration of Life.
We, his family, would like to thank Dr. Mark Kazimirski, Dr. Cathryn Smith, Dr.Tim Matheson, Staff of Hants Community Hospital and "We Care" health providers for his health care. He had bravely fought many health issues for a number of years.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Coldbrook Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Road (902-679-2822). A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the Street Level Ministries, Newport Station with Pastor Gordon Flynn and his wife, Nancy, officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the SPCA, Canadian Diabetes Association or Prostate Cancer Canada can be made if desired in place of flowers.
